WREXHAM MIDFIELDER SET TO JOIN ON-LOAN
Colwyn Bay are set to complete the signing of Wrexham’s talented 18 year-old, former Wales Under-17 International, Matty Hurdman, on a months loan.
It is hoped that the paperwork will be processed in time in order to allow Hurdman to be eligible for tonight’s home game against Prescot Cables (7.45pm). Injuries to key midfielders Jimmy Kelly & Carl Clampitt in addition to Steve Aspinall being unavailable (away on honeymoon) have left manager Neil Young short of cover in midfield.
Hurdman spent a period on loan to Prestatyn last season before being recalled by Wrexham in March after scoring twice in nine appearances for the Seasiders.

On a recent trip over to the UK from his home in Florida, the clubs Vice-President, Dr. David Williams, pledged his support for the clubs youth development programme and is pictured handing over a cheque for £750.00 to club Chairman Geoff Cartwright, on behalf of his company Florida Economics.
The presentation took place ahead of the FC United pre-season friendly match.
Also for the match, David’s children Gareth and Gwyneth were both mascots for the day and witnessed an entertaining game which ended in a 1-1 draw in a first ever meeting between the two clubs.
A further announcement is expected to be made shortly with regards the clubs plans for its youth development programme, headed by Chris Whitley, but we can confirm that talks have already taken place with a number of premiership clubs who are keen to establish links and assist in our development plans. More details will be announced shortly.

Manager Neil Young has this evening sealed the signing of striker Kevin Holsgrove who signed on the dotted line after tonight’s squad training session. Holsgrove has been one of the star performers during pre-season scoring 3 goals in 4 appearances and was subject of a great deal of interest from supporters.
Neil Young comments: “Kevin has been a player that we have been trying to sign for most of the pre-season. He has showed in the games he has played for us already that he will be an excellent addition to the squad and I think we will see the best of him in the coming months and it almost completes our squad going into the new season, as we are still working hard to bring another defender in.”
Another squad update will be given after the final training session ahead of this weekend’s season opener against FC Halifax. |
