PROVISIONAL CONSTITUITION OF LEAGUE 2009/10 SEASON
The UniBond have released the PROVISIONAL allocation of clubs for season 2009/10
The league have stressed that these allocations are provisional as the FA still have some issues with four or five clubs.

ASSISTANT GARY JONES SIGNS ON TILL 2012
Colwyn Bay Football Club are pleased to announce that Assistant Manager Gary Jones has committed his future to the club after agreeing a 3 year contract which mirrors the commitment of Manager Neil Young who signed a long term contract in January. Gary has been the subject of a number of offers from other clubs but has decided to remain loyal to the Bay and his close friend Neil Young.

Gary Jones stated “I am really happy to commit myself to Colwyn Bay for the next three years. I have really enjoyed my time here since leaving professional football and I hope that, alongside Neil, to be able to bring success to the football club.”

Manager Neil Young commented “I am extremely pleased to have been able to secure Gary for the next 3 years alongside my own commitment. Gary has already played a big part in what we have achieved in the short time we have been here and we both hope we can bring success to the club over the next 3 years.”

…AND YOUNG SECURES PROMISING MIDFIELDER
Manager Neil Young has this evening sealed the signing of promising 19-year-old attacking midfielder Ian Sheridan. Ian appeared for AFC Liverpool last season scoring 14 goals and also scooped their player & players player of the year awards.

DEANO BIDS FAREWELL
The departing fans player of the year, Dean Canning, had some final words to say to all at the club as his move to Curzon Ashton was set to be finalized today.

"I have really enjoyed my time at Colwyn Bay and wish everybody involved at the club all the very best. I am going to miss all the lads as they are great bunch and all the supporters who have been amazing to me since I have been here and I am sure you will keep giving your tremendous support to the Gaffer and the team.  Again I would like to wish everybody all the best and I hope to see you all soon."

The club would like to thank Dean for his superb efforts during what turned out to be a very exciting season and wish him and his family, who regularly attended matches, all the very best for the future.

CANNING BID ACCEPTED
Colwyn Bay Football Club have accepted a four figure transfer bid from Curzon Ashton for Dean Canning. After rejecting Curzon’s initial offer last week it was then increased and accepted by the club with Dean today having agreed personal terms with Curzon. The deal is expected to be formally concluded tomorrow.

Manager Neil Young commented “It’s a very good deal for the club and will allow me to strengthen the team in other areas, particularly an out and out centre forward to play alongside Rob Hopley. Dean is a good player and a great lad but probably would of found himself on the fringes next season taking into account his five match suspension at the start of the season and a commitment in October which would have made him unavailable for a further two weeks. As a result of this, he would then of had to play catch up match fitness wise. We decided it made financial and football sense to accept the offer.”

“I would like to thank Dean for his tremendous attitude and commitment whilst I have been at the club and wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”
Dean was signed last summer from Ashton United after he was placed on the transfer list and after a slow start to the season he began to find the net finishing the season with 15 goals and scooping the supporter’s player of the year award. However, with Eddie Jebb expecting to be switched to his strongest position on the right wing, priority is now being given to strengthen other areas with the fee received being made available to the manager to strengthen the squad.

Colwyn Bay Football Club sign three-year Carlsberg deal
Colwyn Bay Football Club have signed a major five-figure deal with Carlsberg UK. The agreement, which includes exclusive pouring rights, ground signage & club lounge branding, appoints Carlsberg as the “Official Beer Supplier” of Colwyn Bay Football Club until the start of the 2012/2013 season.

Darren Cartwright, Managing Director of Colwyn Bay Football Club, said: “We are very pleased to have entered into a partnership with such a high profile brand as Carlsberg. The deal represents a major investment in the club, especially considering the current financial climate. It also justifies the investment that has been made and the hard work put in by a number of people into improving the social facilities at the club which various sections of the community are now enjoying using for a number of events.”

“We look forward to a long and mutually successful relationship with Carlsberg in the future and would like to thank Carlsberg UK, in particular, Peter Griffiths for their support.”
Peter Griffiths, sales manager Carlsberg UK, said: “Carlsberg UK is absolutely delighted to have agreed a supply agreement with Colwyn Bay Football Club and we look forward to a long and successful business partnership.

It is clear the club is both ambitious and dynamic in its plans for the future, and shares the same goal for continuous improvement as we do as a company.”

As part of the 3 year partnership, the club have also secured exclusive access to a marketing support programme, that will help further develop increased member & customer numbers through the club bar.

Mal Jackson - Community Development Director commented: "Securing a partnership deal of this level complements our 5 year strategy for the club and, more importantly, gives us the opportunity to work closely with Carlsberg in developing our customer & fan base and also increasing the usage of our facilities by the local community”

Carlsberg are involved in football at all levels of the game through it’s official beer status with the England Team, The FA Cup, club sponsorship of Liverpool FC and involvement in grassroots.
The deal, which is believed to be one of the biggest in the clubs history, does not include team kit branding which has left the club free to continue negotiations with potential kit sponsors.

Any companies or organizations who would be interested in sponsoring the teams kit for next season are encouraged to contact the clubs commercial manager, Carol Beard on 07881957134
Furthermore, the club desperately needs the support of local businesses, organizations and individuals to help support the ambitions for success “on the field” and also within the local community with various projects and youth football initiatives.

Anyone who wishes to help support and enter into partnership with a pro-active & community focused football club can contact Commercial Manager Carol Beard on 07881957134 or email: carol@cbfchome.f9.co.uk for more information.

EX-TRANMERE STRIKER ALEX HAY SIGNS
Neil Young’s pursuit for a centre forward has finally paid off as he has today secured the signing of Alex Hay from Cammell Laird.

Alex started off his career at Tranmere Rovers were he made over 50 League appearances.  He has also played league football for Rushden and Diamonds, with a loan spell at Altrincham, and has appeared for Rhyl and Bangor City in the Welsh Premier.  Alex is described as a pacey, clever player, who was the top scorer for Cammell Laird in their UniBond First division South promotion season in 2007/08 with 26 goals.

Neil Young commented on the signing “Alex is the type of experienced striker that we have been looking to bring in alongside Rob (Hopley). I have worked with Alex before where I took him to Rhyl and then to Cammell Lairds. When he made it known he was looking to leave, the deal to bring him here was concluded very quickly.”

Alex joins a growing contingent of ex-Cammell Lairds players who have decided to join Neil Young who was previously assistant manager there before taking the hot seat at Colwyn Bay FC.

Further signings are hoping to be announced over the weekend.

PLAYERS PRESENTATION DAY
The final pieces are being put together for the player’s presentation day. It was going to be held with the Staff vs. Fans day, but as the FA Cup is later in the month this year, many of the players would be on holiday and unable to attend. With Neil Young's squad being as close as they are, they all wish to attend the presentation day so it is only right that this day is brought forward to ensure the stars of the day have the opportunity to be at Llanelian road for the presentations.

Therefore, the end of season players presentations will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday the 16th May at the clubhouse, Llanelian Road.  All supporters are welcome.  The players will be staying behind after the presentation so please feel free to come down and enjoy a drink with the squad.

CUP FINAL AT LLANELIAN ROAD
Colwyn Bay FC will be hosting the REM cup final between Llandudno FC & Llandudno Junction FC on Thursday the 7th May 2009 (Kick off 6:45)

PROM DAY - WET, BUT A GREAT DAY!
The club decided to support, for the first time, the annual Prom Day on Bank Holiday Monday. It was felt that as part of our community engagement and the opportunity to show the locals & visitors the clubs commitment to Conwy and how we can help partner various groups in complementing their various projects and activities.

Despite it being a little wet, this did not deter the thousands of people from attending the day, we were very well received, by, not only the visitors, some who are already fans, but also Conwy council and other exhibitors who showed great interest in what Colwyn Bay FC are about.

Interestingly lots of people from Manchester, Stockport, Merseyside and the Midlands had heard about our success in the league and wished us well for next season.
Neil Young who also attended was congratulated by numerous fans.
The marquee was kept busy all day with people enquiring about our forthcoming Soccer Camps, community initiatives, season tickets and club merchandise.
Perhaps one of the most popular events on the day was our “Beat the Keeper”, which was held on the beach.

The public were invited to take three penalty shots at Farai Jackson, those managing to score three goals went away with an exclusive T.Shirt. Not many succeeded as Jacko was on top form, but we think he went a little easy on some of our younger fans, all in good spirit!

Interestingly when Jacko had a break, both Darren Cartwright and “Canteen” KarlRoberts went between the sticks (not at the same time!), and we are now awaiting a large shipment of T.Shirts from Asia to account for the number of penalties let in.
On a serious note both were real sportsman and did the club proud. Jacko, Darren, Karl, Mark Williams and the chairman Geoff Cartwright were non stop busy for a good three hours.

In summary, the event was a great success, we have learnt a few things, which will enable us to make it even more successful next year with the help of a few more willing volunteers. However, objectives achieved – Great publicity, confirmed our commitment to working in the community and plenty of ideas/suggestions and feedback from the many visitors.

Mal Jackson, Community Development director commented – “This proved a worthwhile publicity exercise for the club to get across what our plans are, and how we intend to work with partners to help deliver the many projects and community initiatives in Conwy. An excellent “branding” exercise, which we will build on, not just for Prom Day but also throughout the coming season.

Thanks to Geoff and Darren Cartwright, Mark Williams, Karl Roberts, Farai Jackson and Neil Young for helping make the day a success”.

UNIBOND LEAGUE MAKE DONATION TO TY GOBAITH
Having been donated a sum of £500 by First Division South member club Belper Town to use for charitable causes The UniBond League Board has decided to make five £100 donations to charities with links to football.

League Secretary Phil Bradley said “The Board were impressed by Colwyn Bay FC’s decision this season to donate their shirt sponsorship to help the Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice and were unanimous that this deserving cause should be one of the five charities to benefit from Belper Town’s generosity. Personally I find it very humbling that the children whom Ty Gobaith help are so brave that it puts losing a football match seriously in to perspective.”

The other donations went to two Cancer charities, another children’s charity and, appropriately, a charity supported by former young Belper Town player Jamie Walker who was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma four years ago but who is now two years in to remission.
