31-07-08: MIDFIELDER SIGNS & MORE ON THE WAY?
Colwyn Bay FC are pleased to confirm the signing of experienced midfielder Steve Aspinall who was with Blue Square premier side Altrincham last season.

Aspinall, who is 32-years-old, joins after being released by Altrincham at the end of last season and has been impressive appearing for the Bay in pre-season. Previous clubs also include Tranmere Rovers, Macclesfield Town, Runcorn, Bamber Bridge & Vauxhall Motors. Steve is a dead ball specialist, demonstrated by the free kick he scored in the friendly against Tranmere Rovers, and was an integral part of the Altrincham team which gained promotion and consolidated Altrincham’s position in the Conference.

Managing Director Darren Cartwright  “Having played in the Blue Square Premier last season Steve Aspinall is a quality signing and had trained with a number of clubs before deciding to sign for us. We now have a good core of players with a blend of youth and experience, plenty of pace and have been very encouraged by how quickly they have fitted in together during pre-season. However, the Manager is looking to strengthen the squad in a few positions and we are currently working hard to bring in a number of targets in time for them to feature during the remaining friendly matches”

14-07-08: RHYL VS COLWYN BAY PREVIEW
Steve Pope will once again choose from the same squad that was available for last Friday’s game.

Steve thought that against TNS in the first half the lads did OK and should've gone in at half time 2-1 up had they taken their chances. The lads worked really hard during the half and caused TNS a few problems which was pleasing. In the second half the difference in fitness levels, with TNS’s advanced preparations, told and along with the number of changes made upset the balance of the team.

In spite of that Steve was disappointed with the performance of one or two players who were made clear of the standards expected. Onto the local derby with Rhyl we go and the team is looking forward to another tough work out taking into account the players that Rhyl have signed and the squad that they will have available to choose from.

06-07-08: PRE SEASON UPDATE
Pre-season preparations are gathering pace ahead of the first pre-season Friendly against TNS this Friday. After gruelling sessions on Colwyn Bay beach (Thurs) and the running track at Colwyn Bay Leisure Centre (Saturday) there will be a practise match held at Llanelian Road on Monday night with a kick off of 7pm. The match will give the management team an opportunity to take a look at a number of players in the squad who will be looking to impress in order to earn a place in the squad for the start of the season. Supporters are welcome to come and watch. Following this on Wednesday night the players will be put through their paces at Llandrillo College and individually fitness tested by the sports science department led by Rhodri Davies. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Llandrillo College and Colwyn Bay Leisure centre for the use of their facilities during the pre-season training programme.

Colwyn Bay FC have gone straight into the 1st qualifying round of the FA Trophy this season where we have been drawn at home against Chasetown, who ply their trade in the 'British Gas League - Midlands Division', finishing 7th last season.

The FA Cup had a very familiar feel to it as we travel away to Bamber Bridge in the preliminary round. If successful, Witton Albion will be the visitors to Llanelian Road in the next round.  A very similar draw to last season’s UniBond League Cup last season.

01-07-08: WORKING PARTY COMPLETE CHANGING ROOM UPGRADE
Thanks to the tireless efforts of the CBFC Working Party, the Changing Rooms have received a much needed facelift for the start of the new season. Once again the volunteers have done an excellent job in making sure that the facilities at the club are ready to go for the new campaign and with the Changing Rooms now decorated in the club colours all our teams that use the facilities should feel right at home. All corks are numbered and can be purchased for just £2.00 each.

This is not a difficult 'sell' and is only £2.00 a cork. By a cork or two, or if you are able, please take a sheet and sell a block of corks around your office or local pub.

01-07-08: LAWLESS SET TO LEAVE
Colwyn Bay Football Club have today agreed a fee with Marine for the services of John Lawless. The club had made numerous efforts in order to try and persuade the player to stay although work commitments have made it difficult for the player to commit to attending training and midweek games. After negotiations with Marine the club today agreed a fee which is now subject to finalisation of the necessary paperwork. The club wishes to thank John for his efforts and wish him well for the future.

Manager Steve Pope has confirmed that Kyle Armstrong has decided to join his local club Burscough in order to ply his trade in the Conference North under their new manager Joey Dunn. After having attended the first training session, Kyle was then approached by Burscough and he felt that the opportunity to test himself at a higher level for his local side and the package on offer was too good to turn down.
