20-05-07:SEASON CULMINATES, 2007/08 SEASON PLANNING STARTS:
Following an enjoyable Staff v Fans game which helped generate revenue for the club if not giving the watching Gary Finley any ideas about tactics, the annual player of the season awards were made. Neil Coverley scooped the players and supporters awards, whilst Tim Brandreth picked up the club player of the season. Meanwhile the first pre season friendlies have been pencilled in with UniBond Premier League side Marine visiting Llanelian Road on Saturday August 11th, whilst on Saturday July 21st the Bay will host League Two side Wrexham.
13-05-07:HEAD TO HEAD:
Two of the biggest names in football management are about to lock horns again in a contest that has set the town into a frenzy. Elfed Morris will be managing the fans team whilst Glyn Jabbas Jones will be looking to inspire the staff team in what promises to be a tactical masterpiece for the connoisseurs of the beautiful game. There will bound to be mind games between the two leading lights of psychological sparring ahead of the May 19th D Day, as the slightest advantage could be crucial in such a tense occasion.
Glyn is renowned for his early innovations to refuelling between games and his adherence to modern scientific approaches has led the way in how to care for your body. The staff team have been subjected to a rigid diet and will be prepared as thoroughly as many Premier League sides are today. Elfed by contrast had an early Rock n Roll career and the ravages of that lifestyle have been a warning to the fans team of how careers can go off the rails. Elfed still has an unhealthy interest in grass but the team will be adopting clean living hairstyles as an inspiration to their manager.

02-05-07:BAY FANS PROUD OF TEAM:
An outstanding display by the Bay proved to be in vain at Cammell Laird. Backed by a tremendous vocal support the Bay matched their hosts, a thirty yard pile driver from Paul Williams brought the Bay back on level terms on the hour in an end to end game that was breathtaking for those watching. Urged on by their fans the Bay equalised for a second time when Mark Quayle coolly slotted home in the 90th minute. With the 4th official indicating there would be 3 minutes added time, the spectators were preparing for extra time when in the 95th minute a long ball caught the Bay back line out as John Boardman was returning to the field after treatment, the home team took advantage to seal their place in the final.
Although disappointed by the defeat the club wish Lairds well and can hopefully look forward to building on this progress for next season. |
