Colwyn Bay FC Player Profiles

27-04-07: ALL ROADS LEAD TO LAIRDS:
Bay fans were put through an anxious afternoon before news filtered through that a last minute goal at Rossendale meant Stocksbrige were defeated and the Bay were in the play offs, with a visit to Cammell Laird this Tuesday.  The visitors went ahead 2-0 at the break; a second half onslaught saw the Bay frustrated time and time again by some inspirational goalkeeping, before Paul Williams scored a late goal.  Minutes later the ground erupted again as the score from Dark Lane was confirmed.

23-04-07: ALL IN THIS TOGETHER:
Gary and the players have been so impressed with the backing they have received from the supporters this season; there will be a role reversal when the season is completed. The squad will be on the terraces themselves on May 19th cheering as spectators when the CBFC Staff play the Fans in the fundraising match sponsored by www.findthetrade.co.uk.  Following the match that kicks off at noon, the players will join the supporters in watching the FA Cup Final in the clubhouse as well as having the presentations of the annual Player of the Season awards. This should be an even better day, giving chance to further develop the bond between players and fans and should encourage even more to attend the game.

22-04-07: ALL ON LAST DAY:
An impressive second half performance saw off a spirited Brigg side and means the Bay go into the final game of the season needing to do better than Play off rival Stocksbridge do at Rossendale.  A win and the team will be in the play offs.

Scorer Kyle Armstrong (Furthest lest in image) wheels away after his header secured all 3 points for the Bay.

Meanwhile club officials will be attending the UniBond league meeting on Sunday hoping to influence the decision over league restructuring.

15-04-07: COLWYN BAY LADIES VS LLANGEFNI
The game started at a very high tempo with both teams struggling to control the ball on a very hard pitch .The midfield battle was an even affair with Llangefni just edging the play, even though the bay had the better chances in front of goal.
Then as a bay breakaway, the ball came to Rhiannon Mahoney on the left side of midfield, rounded two Llangefni defenders and slotted the ball past the Llangefni keeper at the near post.
This added fuel to the fire for Llangefni, who then took control of the game ,and played the better football, which resulted in a goal from Ceri Hughes from 20yds out as she hit a high shot into the top of the net.
The second half started much like the first ,but this time it was the bay who took control ,and soon the goals came thick and fast ,and the bay were playing like we know they can ,with good passing and movement on and off the ball.
This play brought goals from Stacey Tradewell (2) and Emma Fisher (3) to make the score 6-1 to the bay,and with an own goal scored by the Llangefni centre half the final score was the bay 7-Llangefni 1.
The second half display by the bay ,was near to how the bay have been playing all season even though regular first team players were absent .Sara Williams had an excellent game in goal for the injured Nathania Scyner, while Becky Morgan's played well on the left wing and Jess Wall was a good standing for our regular right back (Sara Williams).
Each player improved in the second half as the score shows, but to go any further in the league cup they will have to maintain that standard.

14-04-07: LATE WRIGHT WINNER IS ENOUGH:
The Bay made their supporters endure a nervy afternoon as territorial domination against a hardworking Gresley side did not materialise into goals until substitute Darren Wright hit home the winner in the final minute.  Other results mean that if the Bay win their final 2 home games the play offs are guaranteed.

Meanwhile an inspection today saw approval given for the ground improvements carried out under Phase 1 and now the club will be pressing on to complete Phase 2 by the June 30 deadline.

10-04-07: 3 MORE POINTS:
An impressive team performance on a rock hard playing surface saw the Bay secure all 3 points from their visit to Skelmersdale.  Martin Crowder secured the win after an impressive brace from John Lawless.  The Bay are now 2 points behind Stocksbridge with 3 games to play.

08-04-07: BAY PLAY OFF DREAMS STILL ALIVE:
In front of a bumper 551 crowd goals from Kenny Burgess and Robbie Williams were enough to see off Cammell Laird and ensure the Bay travel to Skelmersdale on Easter Monday with momentum and several other teams looking nervously at the final few weeks of the season.  Prior to the match, Roger Skinner awarded loyal supporter John Eric Williams his Life Membership of the club.
