24-02-07: BAY WIN ON ROAD:
The Bay withstood a first half hour bombardment from Clitheroe and were trailing to a highly motivated home side, before a brace from Neil Black and a John Lawless penalty before half time ensured a win and the Bay move into the play off zone.

21-02-07: FUNDRAISING GROUP GETS BALL ROLLING:
Following the positive news regarding the GDG, supporters have now formed a Fund Raising Group (FRG) to organise and promote events to help generate the funds needed to boost the club’s on field and off field progression.  With the pressing need of the urgent ground improvements the FRG have wasted no time in arranging some initiatives to boost the club’s coffers.  The details of these can be found on the Fundraisers page whilst other information will hopefully be shared via the message board.

20-02-07: PWLLHELI VS COLWYN BAY LADIES
Having been reduced to ten players, due to suspension, holidays and sickness.  We arrived at Pwllheli looking at a major game, the f.a.w welsh cup ¼ final.  The ten players all agreed with myself, "lets go down fighting".

As expected the game started at a furious pace, with midfield being the main battle ground.  Aimee Todd  became the holding figure in mid-field, with some excellent tackles and ball delivery to the front two, Sue and Becky MorgaN.  Jess wall and Rhiannon Mahoney played as narrow wingers, creating three across the middle with Aimee.  The back four consisted of Vicky Byrne (captain for the day), Sara Williams and full match debuts to Debbie Flatley and Catrin Wright, then in goal the ever dependable Nathania Scyner.

Even with only ten players the first half belonged to the Bay with Sue and Becky Morgan causing the Pwllheli defence plenty of problems and with Rhiannon Mahoney and Aimee Todd pushing up in support, the Bay looked more likely to score than Pwllheli the home team.

The second half was a mirror image of the first half with the Bay looking the better team.  As the game continued the Bay became stronger and it seemed only a matter of time before a goal came.  Vicky Byrne hit the cross bar with an excellent free-kick from 20 yards out and Aimee Todd had a shot deflected on to the crossbar by the Pwllheli goalkeeper.  The pressure was building and late in the game the Bay were awarded  a corner, which was taken by Rhiannon .  The ball arrived in the box, had a couple of flick-ons and was finally headed into the Pwllheli goal by Aimee Todd .

The celebrations as you can imagine were wild but fully deserved.  The only thing the Bay had to do  now was hold out for 10 min's for the final whistle, which they did giving the Bay ladies a memorable victory.

This game was an excellent team performance ,with only ten players and players making their first full team debuts.  As a manager I couldn’t have asked for anything more than the effort the ladies put in, but to win a game this big under the circumstances we were put in, was definitely a job well done.

18-02-07:FANS ON BOARD:
Following the appeal at the Forum midweek it was encouraging to see the fans rally round and turn up on Saturday to post the season’s highest gate, in addition a Ground Development Group (GDG) has been formed to try and get to grips with the work required for the ground grading situation as well as consider the broader ground issues. Comprising Chris Roberts, John Dickinson and Dave Gates from http://www.findthetrade.co.uk/ the remit for the team is to rationalise what is needed in the short term as well as recognising the long term development needs.  In addition Monday evening sees the meeting of a Fund Raising Group aiming to generate the revenue needed to help the club progress both on and off the field.

14-02-07:GOOD TURNOUT FOR FORUM:
A healthy number of fans turned up for last night’s Fans Forum.  Gary Finley gave everybody an insight into his thinking and answered a range of questions from the floor which those in attendance fully appreciated.  The other message of the evening was the recognition that whilst the club is now solvent and is paying its way, the reality is we need to generate greater funds in order to progress.  This is a situation that needs addressing if we have ambitions as a club to progress so the appeal is to get more people involved, in particular perhaps forming a fundraising group that can take the lead regarding events and projects as well as recruiting at board level.  We have identified the need to expand the range of skills, particularly in relation to strategic planning, and welcome enquiries from those who may be able to contribute to the future development of the club.

Of more pressing concern is the response we need to make following the FA’s ground grading report.  We need to make changes to the ground and have a range of work needing completion by the end of March as well as more substantial work by the end of June.

Initially there is a requirement to relocate the press box and provide lighting; ensure we have appropriate changing facilities for female officials, improve our toilet facilities as well as dealing with the grassed areas within the ground.  We hope to address this last issue with improved fencing.  This work, as well as some more general tidying, needs completion by the end of March and we are appealing for help to meet this goal.  In addition we also have to complete more substantial structural alterations; this involves the creation of new bigger dugouts, which we propose to place on the terrace side of the ground, fitting 250 tip up seats under the covered terrace with an identified directors area, the conversion of the current seated stand into a standing area and moving the pitch surround barrier back on the terrace side to ensure the required space is created.  An appeal of help was made to deal with the development requirements.

11-02-07:BAY WIN AGAIN:
The Bay secured their third 2-0 home win in succession to move back into the play off positions.  Fielding the same starting line up for his third game, Gary was frustrated that the team didn’t end the first half 3 goals ahead, as the visiting Shepshed seemed intent on defending deep and hoping for a breakaway. The Bay peppered the visiting keeper’s goal all afternoon but were defied by the entertaining Dale Belford, whilst the less busy Matt Parry was still called upon to save well on 3 occasions.  The deadlock was finally broken by Lewis Callaghan who followed up an effort by the impressive Neil Black before Tim Brandreth maintained his goal a season average with an impressive finish 10 minutes from time. Tim Brandreth (partly hidden) scores with aplomb to secure the victory

11-02-07: COLWYN BAY LADIES VS KINMEL BAY
The day started bright although the ground was a bit soft and slippy so the play was going to be a bit tricky. Kinmel bay kicked off and to be fair the first 10 to 15 min's they came at us and Colwyn Bay were slightly on the back foot and we needed to wake up a bit but within 20 min's we had got our first goal in the form of our top goal scorer this season Emma Fisher  who rifled one in from  from the edge of the 18 yard box. After that we started to settle down and play some good passing football and the goals then started to flow with Hayley Trimm getting the first of 2 goals for her ,Rhiannon Mahoney getting 2 Sara Williams scoring a low hard drive from the edge of the box and Emma  getting another 2 also Jess Wall who was playing really well got 1 too.

In the second half Kinmel Bay came out fighting still and to be fair they kept on battling and they kept their heads up and kept trying ,and their goalie was having  an excellent game and she made some excellent saves. But we started just as we had  finished the first half with some good passing football and some good clinical play and some good clinical finishing. The goals was coming thick and fast now with Hayley getting another  one Emma getting another 4 Kerry Graham getting 2 Jess Wall getting her 2nd and young Becky Morgan's coming off the subs bench to get 2 as well, a good all round performance ladies.
Final Score: Colwyn Bay 18 Kinmel Bay 0

10-02-07: MATCH GOES AHEAD:
With a significant number of matches across Wales called off, many people doubted that Friday’s snow covered pitch at Llanelian Rd would be ready in time for today’s game; however the investment in what lies underneath and the commitment of the volunteers ensures once again we can host a match. More the pity that the ground grading criteria does not factor in what should be the most important area to assess-namely the playing surface.

08-02-07: FANS FORUM:
Manager Gary Finley will be attending the Fans Forum next Tuesday, when those attending will be able to hear Gary’s views, be given an update on the club’s off the field position and the chance to contribute to the debate and influence the club’s future direction.  The evening starts at 7pm in the clubhouse.

04-02-07 LLANDUDNO JUNCTION VS COLWYN BAY LADIES
The ladies arrived at Llandudno Junction full of confidence after winning the previous week 7-1 against Pwllheli.  For the first 15 min's things looked fairly even, but then came the bays first goal with Hayley Trimm sliding it in at the far post making it 1-0.  Then soon after ,Sara Williams turned on the edge of the box,and unleashed a shot on goal which left the junction keeper stranded on the line making it 2-0.

This was the start the ladies wanted, and having a 2-0 lead ,gave them confidence, and up popped Emma fisher with  an easy headed goal from an excellent cross by Aimee todd.by now the bay were playing some good football, and were awarded a free kick, which Sali Evans lashed into the junction goal, giving the bay a 4-0 lead at half time

The second half the bay were playing up hill, but still looked in control, even though junction pulled one back from a corner. This only spurred the bay on,and Emma notched her second of the game, and substitute Becky Morgan's scored from the right hand corner of the box, looping  the ball over  the keeper which made the final score 6-1.

Considering a heavy pitch, suspensions and team mates being on holiday, this was a very good result for the bay who are looking forward to playing Kinmel Bay at home next week (11-feb-07).

03-02-07: BAY DRAW AT TABLE TOPPERS:
Despite racing into a two goal half time lead courtesy of player coach Mark Quayle, the Bay had to settle for a point at runaway leaders Buxton as the home side drew level with 2 late goals.

02-02-07: BUXTON CHALLEGE:
Saturday sees the Bay face the toughest challenge of the season with a visit to leaders Buxton, any return will be welcome.
