28-12-06: COLWYN BAY LADIES - FISHER HITS THREE IN DERBY WIN:
A great hatrick from Emma Fisher kept the ladies still without losing a game against junction in the league cup. This was a local derby that was always going to be a tough game on a heavy pitch Colwyn Bay took the lead in the first minute when Emma broke clear and lobbed the keeper leaving her stranded. From then on Colwyn Bay was in control of the game we had plenty of chances in the first half with Aimee Todd putting a header narrowly over the bar from a corner and also hitting the bar from another corner. Kerry Graham twice came close and so did Jess Wall but it was Emma Fisher again who finished off a good passing move to put us two nil up at half time. Junction had 1 shot in the first half but it went wide.

The second half we came out just as strong playing some excellent passing football and although junction ladies battled hard they rarely troubled our keeper Nathania Scyner who kept a clean sheet. Sue Harrison finished off a great move from midfield linking up with Emma to score a cracking goal from the right hand side into the left hand corner of the goal but it was ruled out for offside. Emma Fisher also put in  a strong run from midfield and rounded the keeper to get her and the sides third goal so final score 3-0 to Colwyn Bay a good win girls well done you just let your feet do the talking .

27-12-06: REEDY GONE:
The defeat at Lairds proves to be Jamie Reed’s last game in his loan spell at the Bay, as he returns to Wrexham and rumour is a likely inclusion in the first team squad.  All at the Bay will wish Jamie all the best and hope he can push on in his pro career.

24-12-06:DRAW MEANS  …..
A brace from Jamie Reed gave the Bay a point against Woodley Sports, a result that puts the Bay back in the play off zone, but having played more games than their rivals.  The result meant the Bay have lost just twice now in 11 games … but also have only one victory in the last 7 games.  In addition Dav will be grappling with an injury list ahead of the Boxing Day visit to Cammel Laird, with several players struggling to finish the game, the substituted Boardman and Black joining the missing Callaghan and Armstrong on the Xmas treatment table.

However the healthy 329 gate bucked the trend for this time of year and with a good number of these hopefully making the short trip to Lairds on Boxing Day, the Bay support base is one that many teams at our level envy.

20-12-06:XMAS SHAKE UP ON CARDS:
Following 2 disappointing returns Dav is intending to shake up the team ahead of the Xmas programme with additional frontline options being top of his shopping list, whilst last season’s player of the year, Paul Roberts will have the chance to reclaim his full back shirt as well.   Dav stated following the Warrington defeat; “Robbo will be starting Saturday against Woodley and its up to him then to keep hold of the shirt, along with Timmy Brandreth who we’ve missed whilst he was recovering from injury, but I’m going to be on the phone for the next couple of days as we do need to bring in more quality up front, ideally before Christmas as we need to be finishing teams off when we are on top”

Meanwhile the winner of the main Xmas draw prize the Mountain Bike, donated by North Wales Joinery, was Nell Dougherty, copies of the full list of the other prize winners are available at the club and from the main sellers, whilst the winner of the Xmas programme cover competition is 5 year old Ffion Coverley, her work will adorn the cover of this Saturday’s programme for the match v Woodley.  There is anticipated visit from Santa prior to the game whilst the club rewards its loyal fans with a £1 a pint special offer in the clubhouse.

17-12-06:BAY HAVE TO SETTLE FOR A POINT + NEW ARRIVAL:
Despite being gifted an early lead the Bay were forced to curse 2 bits of sloppy defending that meant a John Boardman spectacular equaliser was only enough to ensure a share of the spoils with Kidsgrove.  Missing Jamie Reed who failed a late fitness test the Bay could not make their second half pressure count.  Prior to the game James Scales was signed, originally with Chester City, the midfielder arrives with a strong recommendation from Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy whom James was with earlier this season.

13-12-06:LAIRDS SEND GIFT TO BAY FANS:
UniBond First Division clubs Cammell Laird and Colwyn Bay have joined forces to reward their hardy supporters with a Christmas Bonus.
When the two clubs meet at Lairds' Kirklands ground on Boxing Day, fans will only have to pay £2 to see their team!  Lairds and Bay are giving out vouchers to supporters who attend one of their respective home games preceding the top of the table clash which will give them the discounted entry price.

Lairds Press Secretary Paul Mcloughlin in a statement said;
We specifically asked the UniBond League if we could play Colwyn Bay on Boxing Day, we are their local derby and they are managed by one of our ex players Peter Davenport who went from us to play for Nottingham Forest. The story goes that Lairds received the princely fee of a bottle of Scotch Whisky from Brian Clough for Davenport who of course went on to play for Manchester United.  This is the first time Peter has been back to Lairds in a competitive game so we wanted to do something a little special.
It is a chance for both teams to say thank you to our supporters, and at the same time give the curious a chance to see two of the top teams in the UniBond League Division One without breaking the bank.

Bay's Vice Chairman Andy Owens said
"We welcome this initiative from Lairds and we are more than happy to help promote it, we hope it will encourage more of our supporters to make the short journey and create a great atmosphere for what promises to be a crucial game for both teams"

09-12-06:BAY DRAW:
For the second weekend running a tight game left little between the 2 sides as the Bay returned with a well earned point, which could have in fact been all three.  On a heavily sanded pitch the Bay had the majority of possession and created more openings than their fancied hosts.  The Bay now need to focus on the upcoming crucial matches to ensure they maintain a play off berth in time for Xmas, with key ties against Kidsgrove, Warrington and Woodley before Santa arrives.

07-12-06: GREAT NEWS FOR THE UNIBOND LEAGUE:
Christmas came early for the UniBond League and its member clubs when, at their Christmas Luncheon on the 6th December, they received some wonderful and most welcome news!
The music to their ears was the announcement by the long serving Sponsors, Henkel Ltd., that they have agreed to extend their partnership under the UniBond League banner for a further two seasons until June 2009 – taking the duration of the sponsorship up to a record breaking 15 years.

Both parties recognise the successful relationship they have shared since 1994 and this is reflected in the continuity of their partnership.
Full details of the additional two seasons will be finalised taking in to account the changes in the constitution of the UniBond League which is due to expand to three divisions from the start of season 2007-2008.

The League’s Chairman Peter Maude and Chief Executive Duncan Bayley are delighted with the news and on behalf of the league and its member clubs they extend their thanks to Steve Collins, Henkels Marketing Director, for the faith he has shown in continuing to support the UniBond League, as well as to Rob Jenkins, the Sponsorship Manager, for his day to day commitment to the efficient operation of

O4-12-06:LOCAL BREW APPEALING TO VISITORS:
Over recent weeks the Orme’s Best beer has been proving to be a big hit with visiting fans as well as with the locals.  Produced in Glan Conwy by the Great Orme Brewey and described as a traditional Welsh bitter, the real ale has certainly hit the spot with those of a discerning palate. (Sadly though for punters it will not be included in the £1 a pint deal on December 23rd.)  There are still some vacancies for Social Club bookings as we approach the end of the year, so if you are still looking for the ideal venue for that party please contact Wendy, or spread the news as it is proving to be an increasingly popular venue for family gatherings covering births, deaths and marriages.

02-12-06:BAY MOVE INTO PLAY OFFS:
An injury time winner from Chris Priest saw the Bay defeat Bradford PA and move into the 4th place at the half way point of the season. Man of the Match Tommy Hughes receives his award from Match Sponsor Alan Ham.
