08-05-06: OLD BOYS ON SHOW:
Welsh Cup winners Rhyl will be hoping to add to their silverware at Llanelian Road on Wednesday night.  The Lilywhites, who beat Bangor City 2-0 in Sunday's Welsh Cup Final at Wrexham, face Denbigh Town in the Amicus North Wales Coast FA Challenge Cup Final (Kick Off: 7.30pm).  Both sides are likely to feature some Bay old boys in their ranks so it may well be worth a viewing.

06-05-06: ILL DISCIPLINE ADDS TO DISAPPOINTING END:
Having been on course for the UniBond Fair Play award in the previous 8 months of the season, picking up just 27 points, the team contrived to amass half of that total again in the final month of the season to miss out on the season’s award which went to Belper along with the £1000 first prize.  The Bay will receive £750 for the 2nd place finish.

05-05-06: ITALIAN JOB FOR UNIBOND LEAGUE:
The UniBond League has announced a preferred kit partnership with leading Italian manufacturer Macron to offer its clubs a full range of playing kit, replica and leisurewear.  Under the terms of the deal, Macron – who number Serie B clubs Bologna and Cremonese, as well as Swansea City in the UK and who are looking to establish a foothold in the English game – are supplying kit in the colours of all UniBond clubs, at preferred terms.

The deal, which is entirely optional to UniBond clubs, entitled participating clubs to have replicas and other club merchandise sold via a new on-line store within the league website www.unibondleague.com that will be launched before the start of next season. League IT manager Alan Allcock explains. “One of the biggest issues for club shop managers is the risk of buying stock that may, or may not be sold. The on-line store will provide clubs with an additional shop window for replica’s and other items of leisurewear without them having to order stock. And as the web site caters primarily for those who cannot get to games, or who live outside our area, this is income that clubs might not otherwise be able to capture.

The on-line store is being managed by the Nottingham-based Branded Group who – as Macron’s principal UK distributor, is providing local sales support and a personalisation service to the clubs on Macron’s behalf. Branded has a strong non-league pedigree, supplying over a dozen clubs outside the Football League.

“The preferred kit deal is the first of what we hope will be a series of commercial partnerships for the league which will benefit the clubs by saving them money and, hopefully, generating additional income foe them too” says UniBond League’s Head of Marketing Mark Harris. “We want to establish relationships with brands that recognise the purchasing power of our clubs’ supporters, of the clubs’ themselves and of 100,000 unique users of our web site who follow UniBond League football but do not necessarily attend the games.”  Other partnerships are planned or are already being developed with leading insurance, financial services, first aid equipment, betting and retail partners.   From the Bay’s perspective we are considering our options re. kit supplier but welcome the league’s efforts in developing these commercial opportunities

03-05-06: CONTINENTAL TWIST:
Colwyn Bay under 15's took part in a hastily arranged fixture against HVV Hague of the Netherlands at Llanelian Road last Sunday (30th April).  The Dutch side were touring North Wales and, having had a fixture cancelled at late notice, were fortunate to be able to arrange the game with the Bay.  The Under 15's management would like to express their thanks to Elfed Morris ( Groundsman) who ensured  the pitch was ready at late notice, and also to the Junior teams' sponsor Richie Rhodes of The Plough who arranged after match refreshments at the last minute.  Colwyn Bay won the game 3-2 on penalties after the sides had finished level at 1-1 after 90 mins.
